Lonet
Lonet is 41 years old, and she has four children. Her daughters are Latorra (age 17), Lakale (age 11), and Tiara (age 8). Her son is Shaun, age 6. Lonet has worked as a hairstylist for six years, and is currently a cosmetologist at JCPenny Salon in the Mall. Lonet is very excited about homeownership and her home is being sponsored by Women for Habitat. She has been renting for a long time and she is tired of paying rent. She’s ready to OWN her own home for herself and for her children.

Barbara
(with Heaven and Angel)
Barbara is 60 years old. She has custody of 5 children—two sets of twin girls and one boy. Her granddaughters are Makiya and Aniya, age 5, and her nieces are Heaven and Angel, age 6. Her grandson, Glenn, is 11. Barbara is the widow of a United States Veteran.
She heard about Habitat through some family members—one family member is Kendria, who bought her Habitat home in Newburg last year. Barbara would like to build her home near Madison and Vermont, where we finished the 300th Habitat home last year, and are currently building another.
She wants to be a homeowner because no one in her immediate family has ever owned their own home. She’d like to achieve this for herself and for her children, and show her children that she did this for them. She’d like to leave them a legacy and she wants them to be proud of her.
